Presentation of the results of the study on the illicit cigarette trade in the DRC

On 11 August 2023, the Laboratory for Survey & Research for Development (SRD Lab), in partnership with the Research Initiative for Social Development (RISD), presented the results of the study on the illicit cigarette trade in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Scope of the survey The aim of this work is to collect customised data at national level in three IOTA countries (DRC, Kenya and Nigeria) on tobacco use among adolescents aged 10-17 years in order to fill key evidence gaps and complement existing data. To ensure a good balance between country-specific and programme-wide data needs, we are recruiting the following: 1) Firms or consortia to collect data at national level in one or more of the three DaYTA countries (DRC, Kenya and Nigeria) (Component 1) 2) A firm or consortium that can play a central management and coordination role for the study, with responsibility for standardising data collection protocols across the three countries (Component 2). Research firms or consortia wishing to apply may choose to apply for Components 1 and 2 or for Component 1 only. Firms applying for Component 1 only must clearly indicate in which of the three target countries they propose to work.
